Tablet Presentation

Each Film Coated Tablet Contains:
Saxagliptin Eq. to Saxagliptin IP 2.5/5 mg

Saxagliptin belongs to a group of medicines called dipeptidyl-peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4 inhibitors) or gliptins. It's used to treat type 2 diabetes, which is caused by problems with a hormone in your body called insulin. Gliptins help your body make more insulin. Saxagliptin tablet works by helping to control the level of sugar in your blood.
It is important to keep following the advice about diet and exercise that you have been given by your doctor or nurse.

Indications

Indicated in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control
Note: This medicine does not help patients who have insulin-dependent or type 1 diabetes.

Benefits

  • Sexagliptin Tablet lowers blood sugar when blood sugar is high, especially after a meal, and also lowers blood sugar between meals.
  • It helps to improve the levels of insulin produced by your own body after a meal.
  • It decreases the amount of sugar made by the body and is unlikely to cause your blood sugar to be lowered to a dangerous level (hypoglycemia) because it does not work when your blood sugar is low.

Mechanism of Action

Saxagliptin helps to control blood sugar levels by making the pancreas gland release more insulin. It also signals the liver to stop producing sugar when there is too much sugar in the blood.
